In the spirit of fall, look at photos from this weekend’s Great Pumpkin Weigh-Off at the Great Pumpkin Farm in Clarence. This year’s winning pumpkin weighs in at a gargantuan 1,552 pounds! But, amazingly, Buffalo’s winner doesn’t even come within the Top 10 in the world for pumpkin weight. Two pumpkins, according to the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth (yes, it’s a thing) weigh in at more than 1,800 pounds.
The top pumpkins will remain on display at the Great Pumpkin Farm, 11199 Main St., until Oct. 21. On the Columbus Day holiday next Monday, a 1,000-pound pumpkin will be dropped from 100 feet in the air and other giant pumpkins will be carved.
